Robbers loot valuables from Zianagar College in Pirojpur

Robbers looted money and other valuables from Zianagar Degree College in Zianagar upazila of the district early yesterday.

College sources said a gang of 10-12 robbers tied up night guard Kamal Uddin and entered the college at around 2:30am and took away Tk 21,000, a digital camera and a mobile phone after breaking several almirahs.

On information, law enforcers from Indurkani Police Station rushed to the spot and picked up night guards Kamal Uddin and Belayet for interrogation. At the time of robbery, only Kamal was on duty, sources added.

Later, Md Moniruzzaman Sikder, principal of the college, got Kamal and Belayet released from the police station.

No written complaint was filed with Indurkani Police Station as of 5:00pm yesterday.

Away in Chapainawabganj, Police arrested three robbers with arms from a house at Nandolalpur village in Gomostapur upazila of the district on Monday night, reports our correspondent.

The arrestees are Johirul Islam, 30, his brother Atikul Islam, 27, sons of Sadilul Islam of the village, and Delwar Hossain, 35, son of Nurul Islam of Anarpur village in the upazila.

Golam Mortuza, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gomostapur Police Station, said, a police team, acting on a tip-off raided Atikul's house at the village around 8:30 pm and caught the three robbers when they were preparing to commit a robbery in the area. Police seized one revolver and two sharp weapons from their possession.
