Schoolgirl gang-raped in Gazipur

A 13-year-old schoolgirl has been allegedly gang-raped in Sreepur upazila of the district.

The victim hails from Pagla upazila of Mymensingh district.

Her brother filed a case, accusing one Samsuddin Mia, 25, of Faridpur village in Sreepur upazila, his brother-in-law Rahmat Ali, 45, of the area, and some others in this connection yesterday, said Hafizur Rahman, sub-inspector of Sreepur Police Station.

According to the case statement, the girl, a student of Borobari High school in Pagla upazila, went out of house going to her brother's house in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh on October 28.

Samsuddin and Rahmat Ali picked up the girl on way to Bhaluka. They later confined her to Samsuddin's house and raped her with some of their accomplices.

On information, police rescued the girl from Rahmat's house at a bazaar under Sreepur upazila in an unconscious state on Saturday.

However, the accused managed to flee the scene, sensing the presence of the law enforcers. The girl was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Police are raiding different areas to arrest the culprits, said the SI.
