Schoolgirl killed after rape, two arrested

A schoolgirl was killed after rape at Char Talpatti-Narashing village in Gangachara upazila on Thursday.

The victim, Shaheena Khatun, 14, was a Class III student of Ananda School in the area, and daughter of Ayub Ali of the village.

Family sources said Abujer Rahman, 20, son of Shamsul Alam of the village, used to stalk the girl on her way to school for long.

As Shaheena refused to his love proposal a few days ago, Abujer became very furious.

In absence of her parents, Abujer along with his friend Nazir Hossain, 22, son of Motiar Rahman of the same village, picked up the girl from her house on Thursday night.

They took the victim to a nearby bamboo cluster, raped her and slit her throat.

Locals found the throat-slit body in the bamboo cluster on Friday morning and informed the police. They also caught Abujer, suspecting his involvement in the incident and handed him over to police.

The law enforcers recovered the body and sent it to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The victim's father filed a rape and murder case with Gangachhara Model Police Station on Friday night.

During primary interrogation, Abujer confessed to killing Shaheena after rape, said Md Abdul Mannan, officer-in-charge of the police station.

According to his confessional statement, police later arrested Nazir Hossain, said the OC.
