Snatching bid foiled, one held

A local leader of Swechchhasebok League, volunteer wing of the ruling Awami League, was caught red handed after his alleged snatching bid was foiled in Shajahanpur upazila on Saturday. The arrestee, Asadur Rahman Asha, 27, is the organising secretary of Majhira union unit of Swechchasebok League. Police said locals caught Asha while he was fleeling from the spot after snatching money and a mobile phone set from one Mintu Mia, 32, of Purbapara village in the upazila around 10:00pm. They beat up Asha mercilessly and later handed him over to the police.
