Three die in Sunamganj trawler capsize

Three people died and another went missing when a trawler capsized in Beramuhona haor (water body) in Shalla upazila of Sunamganj district yesterday.

 The deceased are Imrul Miah's wife Sabina Akther, 26, and their daughter Jeni, 5, and Prity, 3, daughter of Sadiqur Rahman of Dhampur village. The missing woman is Jyostna Begum, 27, wife of Kabir Miah of the village.

 Police said the trawler carrying 11 passengers left for Dhampur from Ajmeriganj area of Habiganj district at around 3:00pm.

 When the trawler reached Chapta area in the haor, it was caught in a storm accompanied with rain and sank in the water body. Most of the passengers but the four managed to swim ashore.

 On information, a rescue team rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies after a frantic search.

Contacted, Toymur Bokht Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Ajmeriganj Police Station, and Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Shalla police station, said they had recovered the bodies of the three while one was missing.
