Tornado damages 40 houses in Bagerhat

At least 40 houses were damaged as a tornado lashed two villages in Rampal upazila of the district yesterday.

Locals said the tornado hit the villages at around 9:30am and lasted for several minutes.

At least 10 people of the villages sustained injuries as trees and corrugated iron (CI) sheets fell on them, said Rafiqul Islam Babu, chairman of Perukhali Union Parishad.

Deputy Commissioner Jahangir Alam said the upazila officials were sent to the tornado-hit villages to make a list of the affected people.
