Transport strike on in Panchagarh
The indefinite transport strike in Panchagarh district continued for the second day yesterday.
Panchagarh Transport Owners' Association and three transport workers' associations enforce the strike, demanding a ban on plying of three-wheelers on the highways.
Road communications between the district and other parts of the country came to a halt due to the strike, much to the sufferings of the commuters, traders and long-route passengers.
Apel Mahmud, general secretary of Panchagarh Transport Owners' Association, said they called the strike as the district administration failed to stop plying of three-wheelers like locally-made Nasimon, Karimon, and battery-driven auto-rickshaws on the highways.
He said they will continue the strike until the demand is met.
