Two girls drown

Two girls drowned in a pond at Berabaria village in Bagatipara upazila yesterday.

The deceased are Pushpa Khatun, 14, daughter of Mamun Hossain of Chawk Goas village in the upazila, and her cousin Tripti Khatun, 12, daughter of Hanif Ali of the village.

Quoting locals, police said Puspa and Tripty went to visit their cousin's house at Berabaria village.

The duo went to take a bath in a nearby pond around 10:00am and drowned. Locals spotted their bodies around 11:00am and took them to Bagatipara Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared them dead.
