Two Indians arrested with 46 gold bars

Two Indian nationals were arrested along with 46 gold bars weighing 4.6 kilograms at Indian Petrapole check post, opposite to Benapole check post under Jessore district on Saturday.

The identity of the arrestees could not be known immediately, said Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sources.

Benapole immigration sources said they came to Jessore from Dhaka by air. After finishing their official procedures regarding passport, they reached Indian Petrapole check post.

On secret information, Indian police raided the area and arrested the two on Saturday night.

They also seized the gold bars from their shoes and cellphones, said Abdur Rahim, nayeb subedar of 26, BGB camp in Benapole check post.

Uttam Kumar Somaddar, revenue officer of Benapole custom check post, confirmed the incident.
