Two schoolgirls saved from child marriage

Two schoolgirls were saved from underage marriage following timely intervention of local administration in Bhadai union of Aditmari upazila on Thursday.

Police said marriage of Chandona Rani, 16, daughter of Mantu Chandra Roy of Baraibari village, and Anjali Rani, 14, daughter of Manoranjan Barmon of Bhadai village, was arranged at night.

Being informed, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jahurul Islam Jahir rushed to the spot and foiled the marriage.

Chandona Rani passed this year's SSC examinations while Anjali Rani is a Class VIII student of KB Girls' School and College in the upazila.
