Two teenage girls raped, 7 held

Seven youths were arrested on charges of violating two teenage girls in Thakurgaon and Munshiganj districts on Friday.

In Thakurgaon, police arrested four youths in a case for raping a 14-year-old girl of Sadar upazila in the district on Friday evening, reports our correspondent.

The arrestees are Rubel, 14, son of Shahjahan Ali of Jagannathpur village, Jewel Ali, 14, son of Jabed Ali, Nazmul Haque, 16, son of Nayeb Ali, and Amir Hossain, 13, son of Tara Mia of Fakirpara in the upazila.

The accused picked up the girl while she was returning home from Satyapir Bridge area in the upazila at around 6:30pm.

They took the victim to a nearby maize field and raped her, said Abdul Mannan, inspector of Sadar Police Station.

Hearing screams, locals rushed to the spot, rescued the girl and sent her to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital. The four managed to flee the scene.

Later, police in separate drives arrested the culprits, said the inspector, adding that the victim's father filed a case, accusing the four.

Away in Munshiganj, the law enforcers in separate drives arrested three young men in Gazaria upazila of the district the same day on charge of raping a schoolgirl.

The arrestees are Jewel, 20, Rafique, 19, and Himu, 18, of Dakkhin Fuldi village, reports our correspondent.

Family sources said Jewel along with his four accomplices allegedly violated the girl in absence of her parents on Thursday night.

As the eighth grader screamed for help, locals rushed to the spot and rescued her in a critical condition. She was taken to Munshiganj General Hospital.
