Babita honoured with Who’s Who award in Dhaka
Renowned actor Babita has been awarded the Who’s Who honour at a ceremony held on April 18 at the Grand Ballroom of Sheraton Dhaka. The award was presented by chief guest Yasser Khan Chowdhury.
Who’s Who, an international organisation established in 1849, publishes biographies and recognises distinguished individuals who serve as role models in the United Kingdom and globally. In Bangladesh, the award ceremony has been held every two years since 2016.
The initiative aims to highlight individuals contributing to positive social change and inspire others. Alongside Babita, 11 individuals were honoured across fields including agriculture, education, arts and literature, entrepreneurship, journalism, and social service.
Reflecting on the recognition, Babita said the award held special significance for her. “Every achievement brings joy, but this feels different. My father knew about Who’s Who, and receiving this honour makes me think of him deeply,” she said, dedicating the recognition to the younger generation.
Yasser Khan Chowdhury said the awardees had demonstrated excellence in their respective fields and contributed to enhancing national pride. He added that such recognition could motivate others to work towards a progressive society.
Babita was also awarded the Ekushey Padak this year. Although she has not appeared in new films for some time, she said she would consider returning to acting if offered a compelling story and character.
