Tejgaon College's Theater and Media Studies Department has already gained popularity with this play, as its second production. The directors have said that the next showing of this play will take place on the stage of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy very soon.

A new art gallery, Bhumi, commenced its journey on Tuesday (March 5) with a group art exhibition titled “Artifying the Soul” in Lalmatia, Dhaka. Renowned artists from around the country have showcased their reflections, memories, and everyday experiences through a diverse range of artworks featured in the exhibition, for its inauguration.

Commemorating the legacy of the National poet, the two-day-long festival kicked off today on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The intersection of human creativity and diverse perspectives finds its spotlight in the theatrical masterpiece "Juddho Puran". This innovative theatre production, directed by Kazi Anisul Haque Borun, intricately weaves together elements of human emotions and intriguing narratives, creating a mesmerising experience for its spectators.

In a bid to create that bridge, Standard Chartered Bangladesh (SCB) and Friendship have jointly arranged a photo exhibition to give a glimpse of the people living in sedimentary islands (chars).

Michelangelo’s list of magnum opuses includes his most famous amongst the Pietas, “La Madonna Della Pieta” (1498-99), which depicts the body of Jesus in the lap of Mother Mary after the Crucifixion. “David”(1501–1504), which is arguably the greatest ever sculpture ever carved. Last, but not least, and one of the most recognised pieces of art that even morphed into contemporary pop culture, “The Creation of Adam" (1508–12), which is part of the majestic frescoes that he created at the ceilings of The Sistine Chapel.  

Tajuddin's artistic journey has been marked by a continuous process of refinement. After the late 1980s, he transitioned into a semi-abstract painter and embarked on a thorough exploration of the metropolitan community through thematic treatment. With a profound sense of intimacy, he closely observed the unplanned urbanisation of the city, the gradual loss of its cultural heritage, the diverse modes of transportation, and the ever-evolving socio-political and economic conditions.

In continuation of their tradition of honouring esteemed female theatre personalities every International Women’s Day, the Swapnadal theatre troupe arranges this award ceremony on March 8 every year.

Earlier on February 2, the Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) in Ohio, USA, unveiled a captivating exhibition titled "Art of Bangladesh". Curated by Dina Zaman, a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, this exhibition promises to be a celebration of Bangladeshi art and culture, captivating audiences for three months with a diverse collection of creativity.

The theatre festival and award ceremony will be held on the eve of International Women’s Day at the Mahila Samity’s Nilima Ibrahim Milanayatan, said Sayem Samad, lead artiste of Kanchkhela Repertory Theatre.

The exhibition is a pleasant treat for art lovers. Traversing a new path in art, the artist blossoms in the bliss of cosmic beauty in her search for inner peace, tranquillity and a divine connection with her works depicted in geometric forms and shapes, impressionable brush strokes and lurid colours. Her canvases are bountiful in realistic, semi-abstract, and abstract images. Thick and shimmering colours create volume and perspective in a poetic way.

The inauguration of “Metropolitan Melodies”, the second solo art exhibition by artist Biplab Biprodas took place in the gallery of Art Bangla Foundation on March 1. The ceremony was graced by the presence of renowned artist Prof Rashid Amin, chairperson of the Department of Printmaking at Jagannath University as the main guest.

On eminent theatre and cultural personality Mamunur Rashid's 75th birthday, one of his most celebrated disciples, Chanchal Chowdhury, presented him with a self-drawn portrait of his. In a way, the “Hawa” actor hence commemorated the long-withstanding ancient tradition “Guru Dakshina”.

A 14-day-long travelling fair, Shilpa Bazar (Art Market), has been the centre of attraction for the crafters and art enthusiasts in the capital, with regional, traditional products, ranging from Jamdani Sharee, sculptures to Bioscope in 100 stalls, featuring artists from the distinct places of the country.

Eminent cultural personality and Ekushey Padak winner Mamunur Rashid is a stalwart of the Bangladeshi media, simultaneously contributing as a playwright, director, and actor, and improving the cultural sector in the country. He is also the founder of Aranyak Natyadal.

The inauguration of “Inward Gaze”, the first solo art exhibition of Syeda Asma Akber took place at the capital’s Gallery Chitrak, Dhanmondi yesterday (February 24). The event was graced by the presence of cartoonist Professor Rafiqun Nabi as the chairperson, famous artist Monirul Islam and Professor Nisar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Dhaka as special guests.

A group photo exhibition titled “Contemplation” is scheduled to commence today at 6pm at La Galerie Alliance Française de Dhaka in the capital’s Dhanmondi area.

Mamunur Rashid played a significant role in the post-independence stage movement in Bangladesh. Some of his notable stage dramas include “Ora Kodom Ali”, “Gandharva Nagari”, “Che'r Cycle”, “Sankranti”, “Rarang”, “Target Platoon”, “Iblish”, and more. He has also written numerous dramas for television. Mamunur Rashid continues to act regularly in stage, television, and film productions.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in collaboration with the People's Theatre Association (PTA) has organised the elaborate theatre festival in a bid to engage and encourage the young generation towards the craft, expressed Sabina Yasmin, public relations officer of BSA.

The theatre festival will be joined by renowned theatre artistes and productions from 16 theatre troupes from Bangladesh, India and Nepal, who will perform every evening at District Shilpakala Academy, Jashore till its concluding day, March 9.
