The popular theatre troupe is going to conclude a glorious year with one of its initial plays, eminent thespian Azad Abul Kalam directorial “Koinna”, being staged at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Wednesday (December 13) at 7 PM .

The innovative activity, fostered and curated by former Cultural Affairs Minister and eminent cultural personality, Asaduzzaman Noor has commenced recently with hundreds of child artists painting the roadside walls of Dhaka city.

Directed by Humayun Kabir Himu, this production marks the 51st theatrical endeavour by Dhaka Theatre – a prominent theatrical organisation in Bangladesh. Professor Abdus Selim provided the Bengali translation for it, adapting from George Theodoridis' English translation of the play.

The Brady Arts Centre in East London witnessed a cultural extravaganza as the curtains rose for "Prithok Palonko" (A Palanquin of One's Own), a production by Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, UK, staged on November 25, Saturday. The play focuses on the struggle, and hardship women in our society face and how they shift these obstacles to change their fate.

This year, the ‘Munier Choudhury Sammanona Padak’ will be awarded to prominent theatre director and researcher Kamaluddin Nilu, while theatre director Bakar Bakul will receive the ‘Mohammad Zakaria Smriti Padak’.

Popular theatrical troupe of the capital, Theatre Angan, is going to stage a play based on eminent Bangladeshi educationist, playwright, and laureate Munier Choudhury’s life, marking his 98th birth anniversary.

The Biennale für aktuelle Fotografie, a contemporary photography exhibition based in Germany, has been canceled following accusations of antisemitism related to social media posts by one of the curators. The cities of Mannheim, Ludwigshafen, and Heidelberg in Germany, where the event was scheduled to take place, deemed the content as "antisemitic". The Biennale was originally slated to open in March 2024.

The play will be screened tomorrow (November 18) at 7 pm. Murad Khan wrote the drama about the naïveté of the Sylhet-Sunamganj Haor area while it was directed by Azad Abul Kalam.
