Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter among first-time Emmy winners
Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter and Octavia Spencer were among the first-time Emmy winners as the 78th Emmy Awards began in Los Angeles on September 5.
The first of three ceremonies was held at the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE in downtown Los Angeles, recognising achievements in variety, reality and nonfiction programming, alongside several technical categories. The awards are being presented across September 5, 6 and 14.
Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny won his first Emmy in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category for “The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny”.
The special was the night's biggest winner, taking home seven awards.
American singer-songwriter and actor Sabrina Carpenter also secured her first Emmy, winning Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) for “The Muppet Show”.
Oscar-winning actor Octavia Spencer received her first Emmy for Outstanding Narrator for “Lost Women of Alaska”.
The 78th Emmy Awards will continue with the second ceremony on September 6, followed by the final ceremony on September 14.
