Democracy not 'for or by the people'?

I congratulate you on writing your piece “PM's gift: A voterless election” published on December 20, 2013. I do hope and believe that the responsible quarter will feel the pulse of the people. Democratic government is formed “by the people to work for the people”. We are having a democracy that needs a new definition as it falls short of the words “for the people and by the people.”
