"The Kerala Story" crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in box office collections within just nine days of its release. The movie has been involved in a lot of controversy and conversation throughout India, as its story follows women from Kerala who were allegedly converted to Islam and forced to join ISIS.

This choice of plot put the film under fire, with various politicians calling for a ban on the film. However, despite the situation, the film has continued to bring cinema goers to the halls. By the second Saturday of its debut, it had collected Rs 113 crores, collecting a whopping Rs 19.50 crore on the second Saturday alone.

Well renowned film trade analyst, Taran Adarsh talked about the film's box office collection on Twitter, writing, "#TheKeralaStory is a ONE-HORSE RACE... Has a SUPER-SOLID [second] Sat, cruises past Rs 100 cr in style… The BIG JUMP was on the cards, given the trends… Biz on [second] Sun should be HUGE again… [Week 2] Fri Rs 12.35 cr, Sat Rs 19.50 cr. Total: Rs 112.99 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice."

He also further added that this was the fourth film to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in 2023 after "Pathaan", "Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar" and "Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan".

Within just a week of its release in India, "The Kerala Story" was available in over 200 screens in the US and Canada by last Friday. Speaking on the occasion, director Sudipto Sen said that the movie's mission is going beyond the creative boundaries of cinema. "The country was in denial of the long-existing issue in the state of Kerala. 'The Kerala Story' is a mission which is beyond the creative boundaries of cinema, a movement that should reach the masses all over the world and raise awareness," he told the media.
