Following the success of his recent folk-fusion releases “Moha Jadu” and “Koi Roila Re”, acclaimed singer, composer and music producer Habib Wahid is turning his attention back to original music with a new single titled “Premer Kolonko”.

The song has been written by filmmaker and lyricist S A Haque Olike, marking one of his rare songwriting collaborations with Habib in recent years. Habib has composed and arranged the track himself, while the music video has been directed by Chandan Roy Chowdhury.

According to the artiste, the song is expected to be released online soon.

Speaking about the project, Habib said he wanted to offer listeners something different after releasing back-to-back folk-fusion tracks.

“After releasing consecutive folk-fusion songs, I felt it was time to create something different for listeners. That thought led to ‘Premer Kolonko’,” he said.

“Although I have continued to create and release original songs, I always try to bring a fresh approach to composition and music arrangement. I hope the lyrics, melody, arrangement and video will meet listeners’ expectations.”

Earlier this year, Habib drew widespread attention through his appearance on Coke Studio Bangla, where he collaborated with Tajik singer Mehrnigori Rustam on the folk-fusion track “Moha Jadu”.

The success of that collaboration reignited audience interest in Habib’s fusion projects, prompting the release of “Koi Roila Re” during Eid.

The song marked the return of Kaya to a Habib-produced project after 21 years. Kaya, whose vocals featured prominently on Habib’s acclaimed album “Krishno”, joined the musician alongside contemporary artiste and producer Muza.

The collaboration quickly gained traction among listeners, further strengthening Habib’s recent run of successful releases.

With “Premer Kolonko”, the musician now appears set to balance his signature experimentation with a return to original contemporary songwriting.
