Fighting drug addiction

This refers to the report, “Marijuana 'no more dangerous than alcohol'” (Jan. 21). It is heartening to note that the US has legalised pot. The US move to legalise marijuana will help prevent smuggling, especially from the neighbouring nation Mexico. Smugglers are innovative; there are reports of them using crude submarines for this purpose. It is not correct to say that only poor kids smoke pot, rich kids also do. Obama's advice to his kids not to smoke is very heartening. Every father should do this. Even in colleges, during ragging, freshers are forced to smoke cigarettes, which they have not done since childhood. It is an atrocity, heaped on freshers, by the senior students.
