BNP seeks security for Khaleda
The BNP yesterday demanded that the government beef up security for Khaleda Zia upon her arrival in Bangladesh in view of what it said "deterioration" in law and order.
In a statement, BNP spokesperson Asaduzzaman Ripon said, "Khaleda Zia is returning from London in an Emirates flight at 5:00pm Saturday. We're worried about her security due to a slide in the country's law and order."
"We urge the government to take steps to intensify the former prime minister's security as her security is inadequate."
On September 16, Khaleda left for London for eye treatment and celebrating Eid-ul-Azha there with her family members.
At a press conference on Thursday, Ripon claimed that the party chief decided to return home on Saturday without completing her treatment, considering the country's political crisis.
