Pregnant woman found dead in her N'ganj flat

Police recovered the slit-throat body of a two-month pregnant woman from a flat at Siddhirganj in Narayanganj yesterday.

The dead is Mukta Akter, 25, wife of Kauser Ahmed, 30. She was a garment worker.

Kamrul Islam, sub-inspector of Siddhirganj Police Station, said they recovered the body around 12 noon and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The couple rented the flat a month ago. Their neighbours noticed Mukta's blood-stained body through a window yesterday morning and called the police, SI Kamrul said, quoting the flat owner.

Police suspect Kauser killed Mukta over a family dispute, he added.

Victim's mother Josna Begum filed a case with Siddhirganj Police Station against Kauser over the murder.

Shaheen Parvez, officer-in-charge of Siddhirganj Police Station, said they were trying to arrest the accused.
