iLEAD GOOGLE HANGOUT SESSION AT AUW:

“You read, travel and learn about the trends, and try to fill the gaps. Bridging the gaps, that's what entrepreneurship is all about,” said Dr. Rehnuma Karim, while mentoring young leaders and entrepreneurs at a grooming session under the iLead programme. The event was held at Asian University for Women, Chittagong on December 22, 2014.
Dr. Rehnuma Karim is an Assistant Professor of College at Brockport, State University of New York. She earned her Ph.D. in Recreation and Leisure Studies from Penn State University, USA. The title of her dissertation is “Learning to Live: A Qualitative Inquiry on the Female Victims of Acid Attack in Bangladesh.” Her research interests focus on cross-cultural studies emphasising on coping strategies, youth-at-risk, diversity in higher education and civic engagement. She is also involved with various youth development activities in Bangladesh.
“iLead: Inspiring Generation Next” is a virtual youth mentoring programme initiated by Bangladesh Brand Forum (BBF), collaborating with the US Embassy and the EMK Center. The objective of the programme is to make the Bangladeshi youth aware of various social challenges, along with helping them hone proper skills to develop business ideas to address the challenges through engaging the local leaders, experts and global Bangladeshi professionals. The session was put together by Bangladesh Brand Forum, EMK Center, Google Business Group and JCI Dhaka.
The hour-long virtual hangout session started with a presentation on iLead and the speaker, Rehnuma Karim. At the inception of her virtual session, Karim thanked BBF and EMK Center for organising the session and the students, not only Bangladeshi but also international students studying at AUW.
According to her, creativity, passion, keen observation, determination, confidence, fearlessness of uncertainty and a strong sense of independence are some necessary quality and skills for an entrepreneur. The students can involve in activities suitable to their individual interests during their leisure time and start building relationship with others, as today it's difficult to do anything alone. Reading outside regular context can help them to acquire diverse knowledge.
The session was followed by an extensive question and answer session.
