Initial Shooting for Chitkini Complete

Initial shooting for the government funded movie “Chitkini” finished in August 2014 near the Panchagar Railway Station. Story, screenplay and direction has been done by screenplay writer and filmmaking teacher Shajedul Auwal and this is his first full length feature film. The story is centered on a widowed stonebreaker near Panchagar and her sufferings and hardships. The lead actor for this film is Runa Khan. Also included in the cast are Bhasshoy Bondhopaddhay, Aminur Rahman Mukul, Manosh Bondhopaddhay, Mahmudul Islam Mithu, Sajedul Auwal and Mustagisur Rahman Babu.
Information from the director points to the fact that this production is completely location based. There, he had first-hand experience on stone breaking and transporting 30 years ago. That's when he wrote the script for Chitkini, in 1985. In other words, it's an autobiography of his life. Even if this is three decades old, he still wants to portray the story. Other than paddy fields, many types of stones are also found on Panchagar. Those stones are collected, put on wagons and brought to the rail station and stored there. From there, those stones are distributed across the country based on demand. The stones that are stooped around paddy fields are distributed through trucks.
Cleaning, filling wagons, etc are primarily done by women. Moymuna is also one of them. This story will revolve around her life, work and sacrifices. The next half of the shooting for “Chitkini” will resume around November and December in Mymensingh, Netrokona and Bhojonpur, in Panchagar.
