Lessons for Tigers from Sri Lanka

Lessons for Tigers from Sri Lanka

So the three months of cricket have come to an end and here are two highlights. Congratulations to SL! They are the deserving champions, and I supported them because they are always willing to come to Bangladesh and play, and invite Bangladesh to go and play in their country when others are unwilling. The Tigers should be encouraged that though SL does not have big six-hitters like WI, they have won through tenacity, intelligence, efficiency, diving fielding, and by not divulging their strategy before an upcoming match. What a great send-off for two of cricket's finest gentlemen Sanga and Mahela.
Persevere, young Tigers! It might take 18 years to get a crown. Secondly, the 326-3 innings against Pakistan was the best show by the Tigers during these three months, though fielding and bowling eventually lost the match. Selectors, please take note who was absent and who was present among the five batsmen: Anamul, Imrul, Mominul, Mushfiq, and Shakib. Why change a successful formula? We now expect such performances from Mushfiq and Shakib, and on that particular day the selection was truly “fair”. Anamul has won an opener spot, and Imrul and Mominul were dependable as they usually each contributes fifties. The result (results should be the basis of selection) was a truly lovely 326-3.
