Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, and the month of fasting for the Muslim world. The festival brings friends and family together for joyous gatherings and moments of heartfelt prayer. Adding festive cheer to these precious moments, here are some décor ideas to brighten up your home.

Your room

Your room is your private place and the first spot that deserves a festive upgrade. Use warm white or soft gold fairy lights to brighten windows. Drape them along frames or hang them as a curtain, paired with sheer curtains to diffuse the glow. You can also use crescent-and-star-shaped lights for a more themed approach. LED or battery-operated lights are generally safer and reusable.

Your living room

Your living room is where most of your guests will get together, so this space needs some special attention.

Create a focal area by arranging low seating around a coffee table and layering a statement rug. Soft, faux fur rugs are all the rage now and come in soft colours like cream, soft pink, white and champagne, to go with each type of decor.

Add floor cushions with extra throws for cosier seating. Centrepieces could include trays of dates or Turkish delights and seasonal flowers in soft hues.

Balance lighting with warm overhead lights, lamps, and window fairy lights for a golden glow. Do not be afraid to use rich textures like velvet, woven trays, and metallics for a luxurious feel. If you wish to be a notch more thoughtful, include a small kid-friendly activity corner with cushions and toys to keep the little ones entertained.

Your dining area

Eid is incomplete without a big feast. Therefore, your dinner table will invariably have to be the star of the show. A low, ball-shaped bouquet of fresh flowers can serve as a great centre piece. Alternatively, you can use a satin runner with clustered candles, sprigs of eucalyptus greens, some small lanterns, or ceramic bowls with floating candles and petals.

Simple white or cream plates with gold or brass cutlery look minimalistic and classy; serve with cloth napkins and patterned placemats for texture and a more complete aesthetic.

You can set up a tray in the corner with small favour-pouches of dates and chocolates. Set a warm mood with dimmable overhead lighting or candles in hurricane glasses. A buffet set up is great for friends and family, using tiered serving trays for sweets and fruit to save space and look elegant.
