Drik and the Legend of the Loom

Drik, in association with Bangladesh National Museum, premiered a documentary film on 30 July, 2017 at Kobi Sufia Kamal Auditorium, Bangladesh National Museum. The film, 'Legend of the Loom- The Legendary Fabric of Bengal' has been produced in partnership with Bangladesh National Museum and Aarong. 

The documentary takes the audience on a journey from the riverbanks of Bangladesh to museums worldwide, where the clothes worn by the patrons of the magical fabric are carefully stored. 

The film also introduces the audience to the various techniques practiced in creating the finest and most sought after fabric in the world and its impact on the map of fashion and trade. 

Asaduzzaman Noor, Minister of Cultural Affairs, was the Chief Guest at the premiere. 'Legend of the Loom' is said to be the culmination of a three-year project during which Drik also published a book by the name 'Muslin- Our Story'. The book is available at Drik. 

The documentary is being screened at a number of venues. An upcoming one is on 6pm 10 August at EMK Centre.
