Magic Realism Girl

Magic Realism Girl

Hasan Shahriar

When I was born my family was so happy that for three years there was no nightfall. It was all sun all the time. Night came only when I was, at three years of age, in the medical ward with pneumonia. Such darkness! I was terrified. Nightfall stayed with us till I was done convalescing. I took off again, swiftly, when I became a teenager. I was in love for the first time and my joy transcended my body into twenty-four hours of sunshine. But he rejected me when I approached him. And now there's only rain.

In March, she took him to this food festival that they both had no interest in, and proclaimed that she was starting to like him very, very much. In April, they were more serious than ever. In May, they went to his brother's summer place in the port city for a vacation. In June, they decided to adopt a kid.  In July, they were still trying to adopt a kid. In August, they gave up trying to adopt a kid.  In September, her parents told him they didn't like him to his face. In October, he started spending less time with her and more at the insurance office he worked at. In November, they admitted to having drifted apart. In December, they were both regretting having gotten back.
