100 injured as rival groups clash in B'baria
At least 100 people were injured, 22 of them seriously, in a clash between two rival groups at Chapuir village under Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila yesterday.
According to police and witnesses, the clash was a sequel to an altercation between two people belonging to the two rival groups-- Bayanna Ghar group and Shat Ghar group---over husking of paddy at a rice mill at the village on Thursday.
At around 10:00am yesterday, people of the two groups equipped with sticks and sharp weapons attacked each other, leaving at least 100 from both sides injured
Seriously injured-- Faruque Mia, 18, Nurul Islam Bhuiyan, 50, Salim Mia, 45, Abu Taher, 45, Ali Hossain, 30, Delwar Hossain, 65, Mazidul Islam, 22, Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, 28, Mozammel Haque, Farook Bhuiyan, 40, 23, Akram Mia, 22, Sanu Bhuiyan, 22, Helal Mia, 25, Abu Bakar, 60, Basir Mia, 45, Suhel Mia, 20, Joynal, 20, Jabed Mia, 40 Abdullah, 28, Kamal Mia, 25, Shah Alam, 35, and Jasim Uddin, 25-- were admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital while the rest given first aid.
