Water diversion policy
Bangladesh is a land of rivers. All these rivers originating from India, China and Myanmar are flowing over Bangladesh to the south. This is a boon for Bangladesh.
But recently, India is trying to interrupt the natural flow of rivers by constructing dams only for their own interest. The "Central Water Commission(CWC)" of India has taken a project to build several dams to divert the river flow and is trying to create a linkage among the rivers by excavating canals between them. If they divert the flow of these international rivers within their national border, it will be fruitful for their agriculture, economy and environment. But for us it will pose a major threat because it will make Bangladesh an arid land which is now highly arable. Now, agriculture, economy and environment of Bangladesh are drastically under threat of the water diversion policy of India.
As a neighbouring country, India should be liberal and handle the issue carefully.
