Daylight saving
We find little justification of putting the clock forward by one hour from the 19th July for three months, for the first time in the history of this sub-continent, on the ground that it would save day light hours and thereby minimize frequent loadshedding. But so far it has made no difference.
If at all it was necessary for them to do so to give us a surprise, then they should have advanced the office timings by one hour. It was as simple as that. Only Allah knows when the experiment will be over and the authorities will change their mind. It has created confusion among the people, particularly in the rural areas. Bangladesh is supposed to be a tiny country according to her size. Whereas, India is considered as a subcontinent because of her enormous size but they are content with one set of timing, though setting up of separate time zones would have been logical. Moreover, variations of time between day and night in this part of the world are not that significant.
If the government is truly sincere about saving electricity, then they should have banned use of air conditioners in private residential houses and other areas, of course with some exceptions till generation of enough electricity. The rulers should show the way first. Without sacrifice by the leaders a hapless nation cannot march forward. A negligible section of people enjoying the luxuries of life does not mean we are a developed nation. Please take your lessons from the neighbouring country where the government has taken a bold and sincere decision for facing the drought.
We are getting fed up and worried day by day over the way our country is being governed.
The commerce minister is rubbing salt to our injuries. Ignoring the burning problems, uncalled-for petty and silly issues are being raised every now and then. Is this democracy? The BDR carnage involving our army has already shaken the very foundation of the country. Our borders are at the mercy of others. To serve the country you have to love your motherland sincerely. In the interest of the party and power please do not divide this nation any more. May Allah bless Bangladesh and its people.
