Murderous student politics

Md. Ismail, Department of English, Govt. City College, Chittagong
There is a wise saying, ''Today's students will lead the nation tomorrow.'' But if they are misguided and involve themselves in vicious and heinous activities, how will they become our future leaders? In the educational institutions we often see some so-called students under the shadow of political groups or in the name of student politics they create campus violence. Anarchy on the campus throws the general students into dire straits as their usual study-plan is hampered due to it and they fall victim to session jam. Moreover, their parents also find themselves in a very difficult situation. With great expectation students get admitted in the university. But in the present chaotic situation, how will they enlighten themselves and reach their goal?

Yes, I am student. Student politics is necessary for education in our context. Because, when the authorities decide to do anything against students' interests, the political students first raise there hands against it. In that sense, student politics is a positive thing. Students are often found to be involved in bloody clashes. My request to the guardians of the political parties--please don't spoil them. Students are the future leaders of your party. Don't let them fight with each other. We expect you to change the environment of educational institutions. We expect you to change Bangladesh!
