Khaleda's predictable reaction
The Daily Star in its editorial of 19 Jan under the above caption has expressed surprise over Begum Khaleda's reaction. What the paper predicted has proved to be right and the paper should not have expected anything else. Begum Zia has said what she was expected to say and the people were not surprised.
We will have to keep in mind what she believes about her position. She believes that she is an undisputed leader, there is none other than her family and few of her party supporters who are naturally empowered to run this country. All others are against the independence of the country and are out to destroy the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh.
Look at her, she still firmly believes that she did not lose the 2008 elections and it was a staged election to defeat her. The present AL was brought to power in Dec 2008 by some foreign powers. She also believes that the people of Bangladesh do not want anyone else to sit on the seat of power except her or her sons.
As all other power seekers are anti-Bangladesh elements their signing of any deal with foreign countries relating to Bangladesh is naturally an anti-Bangladesh endeavour and she cannot react positively. The most surprising thing is that she does not know that most people do not believe what she says nowadays. This belief is, in fact, distancing herself from people more and more. She should realise that she is not a natural QUEEN and Bangladesh is an emerging democratic country.
Here hands will change by peoples' choice.
Although her negative attitude will not matter much, she should change her position for her own good.
