3 outlaws held in Meherpur

Police arrested three outlaws in Bamundi petrol pump area of Gangni upazila in Meherpur Saturday night. The arrestees are Jamrul Islam, second-in-command of Purbo Banglar Maobadi Congress, a new faction of outlawed outfit Purba Banglar Communist Party, and his accomplices Halim and Mohirul. They are accused in several cases including that of murder, extortion, bomb attack and kidnapping, said police. Sagir Miah, office-in-charge of Gangni police station said, they arrested the outlaws at about midnight by tracking mobile phone network. After killing local brick kiln worker Adam Ali on January 16, Jamrul informed local journalists about the matter over mobile phone at the night identifying himself as Swapan Babu, Khulna divisional organising secretary of the outfit.
