Distorting history
We are appalled by the news that the Awami League government has changed facts relating to the history of independence in the new edition of Paribash Parichiti Samaj, a school textbook for Class V.
Bhutan was the first country to recognize Bangladesh in 1971, but in the new edition of the book, it has been cited that India recognized Bangladesh independence on December 6, 1971 followed by Bhutan on December 7. We deplore this action and feel sorry for the younger generation who will grow up without knowing the true history of their country.
