Housewife murdered for dowry, another commits 'suicide'
A housewife was killed allegedly by her husband at Jagannathpur village under Khaliajuri upazila in Netrakona while another allegedly committed suicide at Chapainawabganj town yesterday.
Police in Netrakona recovered the body of housewife Anjuman Ara Begum, 25, from a jungle in the morning, reports our correspondent.
Police and family sources of the victim said Anjuman, daughter of Shamim Ahmed was married to Kabir Hossain of the same village three years ago and Kabir used to beat Anjuman for dowry.
Kabir allegedly threatened Anjuman's mother Hasina Begum saying that if they failed to give him Tk 50,000 as dowry within the next three days then he would kill Anjuman.
Hasina claimed that Kabir killed Anjuman as he failed to realise the dowry money.
Mohammad Asaduzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khaliajuri police station told this correspondent that Kabir is an addict and he used to beat Anjuman for dowry. He might have killed Anjuman and thrown the body into the jungle after her death, the OC added.
A case was filed with Khaliajuri police station in this connection. Kabir fled the locality after the death.
Our Correspondent in Chapainawabganj reports: A housewife allegedly committed suicide at Namoshankarbati-Chokapara in Chapainawabganj town yesterday morning.
Hapless Fahima Begum,22, was wife of Mizanur Rahman of Namoshankarbati-Chokapara of the municipal area.
Police and family sources said, following an altercation with her husband at in-laws' house, she committed suicide by hanging at her room at around 9:00 am.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
An unnatural death (UD) case has been filed with Sadar police station in this connection, said sub-Inspector (SI) Ashraful Islam.
