Saturday's BAU Incident
Culprit outsiders yet to be held
Police is yet to arrest any of the outsider delinquents who teased two female students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) and injured six of their male fellows on Saturday evening.
Md Mohiuddin Hawlader, chief security officer of BAU Security Cell, filed a case with Kotwali Police Station on Sunday night accusing seven people for the incident.
Police picked up university employee Abdul Awal, also the father of one of the accused in the case, on Sunday night for interrogation.
The authorities also closed security guards Md Habibul Islam and Md Kamruzzaman on charge of their negligence of duty.
Two female students faced indecent behaviour by a few outsiders at around 7:00pm on Saturday at the first gate of the university when they were returning to their dormitories in a rickshaw. Six BAU students were also injured when they tried to save the girls.
Earlier on Sunday, BAU students brought out a procession on the campus demanding immediate arrest of the culprits. They also boycotted their classes and kept the main gate of the administrative building under lock and key for several hours.
