Name game

Saleh Mohammad Ayub, Kalabagan, Dhaka
It has become apparent from the deliberations of the Honourable Prime Minister that the name game is in retaliation to opposition's changing of over 200 names. It is a politics of hatred and vendetta. From the zeal and enthusiasm of the people concerned, it appears that the country is sharply divided into two camps. A divided populace can never attain the pinnacle of success. In order to achieve real success, this politics of hatred must come to an end. Many countries in the world have achieved a greater success than Bangladesh emerging as an independent country later on; this should be an eye opener for the Bangladeshi politicians. Please refer to the talk show conducted by Munni Shaha, wherein Dr.. Mahathir Mohammad advised the listeners not to dig in the past in order to move forward. Very unfortunately, we as a nation are deeply rooted in the past and cannot proceed forward. Whenever there is a new party in power, it employs all its energies and powers to undo the works of the past government, in a bid to emerge as a superior power. With this game going, the country is losing and becoming bankrupt. There can be no denying that the party in power has not been able to achieve any tangible success. Politicians need to rethink about their commitments towards the nation, in order to make the sacrifice of millions of lives meaningful. The country has already suffered a lot, let us give it a break.
