Role of Bangladeshis in Saudi economy lauded

Consul General at Bangladesh Consulate in Jeddah Golam Sarwar called on Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah bin Turki Al-Saud, the second son of Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz and governor of Najran, on Sunday. In the meeting, the consul general discussed bilateral and international issues with the Saudi prince. He also mentioned of the immense contribution of expatriate Bangladeshis to the economic development of Saudi Arabia, according to a press release received in Dhaka yesterday. The consul general drew the attention of the Saudi prince to the problems Bangladeshi workers are facing in changing their Ikamas. Reminding the Saudi King's assurance in solving the matter during his discussion with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in April last year, the consul general sought assistance and personal initiative of Prince Mishaal in this regard. In reply, Prince Mishaal pledged his all-out cooperation in changing Ikamas of Bangladeshi workers. Prince Mishaal also mentioned of a plan to establish an international school at Najran for the welfare of the foreign nationals of all levels, including Bangladeshi workers. Consul General Golam Sarwar conveyed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister Dipu Moni's greetings to the prince. In reply, the prince invited the Bangladeshi premier and the foreign minister to visit Najran.
