Ex-Jamaat MP, 19 others sued in Cox's Bazar
A case was filed in Chokoria, Cox's Bazar, against a former Jamaat-e-Islami MP and 19 others on charges of arson, looting, rape and killing during the liberation war in 1971.
The accused included Enamul Haque Monju, former Jamaat MP of Cox's Bazar-1 (Chokoria-Pekua) constitution and central president of Islami Chhatra Shibir, and Azizur Rahman, father of Chokoria Municipality Awami League convener AKM Giasuddin.
Anwar Hossain Bangalee, a member of Chokoria Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad and former commander, filed the case with the Chokoria senior judicial magistrate's court on Tuesday.
The court directed the officer-in-charge of Chokoria Police Station to submit an investigation report in this case.
In his case statement, the plaintiff alleged that the accused helped the Pakistani soldiers burn houses, loot valuables, commit rape and kill freedom fighters.
