Road accidents kill three

Two children and a woman were killed in separate road accidents in Gopalganj, Chapainawabganj and Sirajganj yesterday. A correspondent from Gopalganj adds: A six-year old boy was killed in a road accident near Joaria Bridge on Tungipara-Kotalipara highway about 11:00am yesterday. The deceased was identified as Chandan Biswas, 6, son of Niranjan Biswas of Rakhilabari village under Tungipara upazila. Locals said Niranjan along with his speaking and hearing-impaired son Chandan was going to issue an ID card for the persons with disabilities at the upazila chairman office by a Nasiman. The accident occurred as driver of Nasiman lost his control over the steering and turned upside down and fell beside the road, leaving the boy dead on the spot and six others injured. The injured were released after first aid. Our correspondent from Chapainawabganj says: A schoolboy was killed in a road accident on Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi highway at Dariapur in Chpainawabganj municipal area yesterday. The victim was identified as, Nishat, 9, son of Nazrul Islam of Daripur Moholla in Chapainawabganj municipal area and a student of class three of Dariapur Primary School. Quoting local people, police said the accident occurred when a Chapainawabganj-bound truck from Rajshahi hit Nishat around 12:00 noon at Dariapur near the Dariapur Bridge in the town while he was crossing the road. He died on the spot. Police sent the body to Adhunik Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Our correspondent from Sirajganj reports: A widow was killed and 12 others were injured in a road accident on the Bogra-Nagorbari highway at Char Shilonda in Shahzadpur upazila of Sirajganj yesterday. The victim was identified as Bahaton Bewa, 55, of Char Shilonda village in Shahzadpur upazila. Police and witnesses said the accident took place at 8.30am while an auto-tempo locally called as Bhutbhuti turned upside down on the road and fell into a roadside ditch as its driver lost his control over the steering, killing Bahaton and injuring 12 other passengers. The woman went there to collect cow dung of the Bhutbhuti.
