White paper on Logang killings demanded
Leaders of different of organisations of indigenous people in a statement yesterday demanded of the government to publish white paper on the all killings, including Logang killings, in Chittagong Hill Tracts.
They also demanded exemplary punishment to the people involved with those killing, says a press release.
Greater Chittagong Hill Tracts Students Council (PCP) Khagrachari district unit President Ratan Chakma, Gonotrantik Jubo Forum district unit President Remin Chakma and Hill Women's Federation district unit President Riku Chakma issued the statement on the occasion of 18th anniversary of the Logang killings occurred on April 10 in 1992.
They said no government has taken any action against the culprits, although 18 years had already been passed.
More than a dozen of genocides occurred in the CHT, but no investigation report was published. Conspiracy is going on to evict the indigenous people through killing, rape and arson attacks, they alleged.
They also urged the government to ensure social security of the indigenous people.
They said a sudden attack was launched on the indigenous people at Logang in Khagrachari on this day in 1992 while they were preparing to celebrate Boisabi that left more than 1,000 indigenous people dead.
