JU female student found dead

A female student of Jahangirnagar University was found dead at her rented house in Bank Colony area of Savar municipality yesterday. The victim was identified as Farha-Naz-Ruhi, 22, a 3rd year student of economics department and a resident student of Nawab Fayzunnessa Hall. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Savar Police Station AKM Nasirullah said they went to 'Kangsha' villa at Bank Colony at 1:30am and found the dead body hanging from a ceiling fan. The law enforcers arrested the victim's 'so-called' husband Shakhawat Hossain Jimi, 25, and a master's final year student of physics department, in this connection. "Shakhawat and Ruhi introduced themselves as husband and wife to rent the house. But Shakhawat could not show any document of their marriage to the police," said the OC. The victim's Her father Abdul Kader, chairman of philosophy department of Feni Government College, filed a case with Savar Police Station against the arrestee for forcing his daughter to commit suicide after physical and mental tortures. Shakhawat, son of Abdul Mannan of Madhukhola village of Dohar upazila, said following an altercation on the campus, Ruhi came home alone. But when he returned home, he found that the door was locked from inside and her body was hanging from the ceiling fan. The body was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for an autopsy. Later, it was sent to her village home at Subarna Char in Noakhali.
