Talk on child development
Prime Campus, an English medium school, hosted a presentation titled 'Factors affecting children's development' by Dr Jena Hamadani, head of the Child Development Unit at ICDDR,B, on April 9, says a press release.
Dr Jena said children should not be forced “to do things that are not age appropriate.”
Writing should not be taught before the age of five, she said, adding that children can lose their ability to learn if unduly pressured.
Dr Jena also stressed the importance of play in learning. Teachers should “make learning fun” and “provide opportunities for the child to play and explore.”
