Building on river bank collapses during storm
A one-storey building on the bank of river Buriganga in the city's Kamrangirchar area collapsed in the early hours of yesterday.
However, no casualty was reported as the building remained abandoned for a long time.
Locals said the building at Nababerchar collapsed into the river during a nor'wester, as its foundation became weak due to illegal lifting of sand by sand traders.
However, sand traders claimed that the building collapsed due to the nor'wester.
The building was built seven years ago but it remained abandoned due to a land dispute.
