Tribute paid to Ahsanullah Master

The 6th death anniversary of former lawmaker and Awami League leader Ahsanullah Master was observed yesterday. On the occasion, people from different walks of life placed wreaths at his graveyard at Hyderabad village in Gazipur in the morning. Besides, a milad and doa mahfil, destitute feeding programme, free medical camp and a memorial meeting were held at Tongi and other parts of the district. Addressing a memorial meeting at Hyderabad village, AL acting general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, AL presidium member Obaidul Qauder and others paid tributes to the memory of the late leader and recalled his contribution to the welfare of people. Ahsanullah Master, a former lawmaker from Gazipur-2 constituency and also labour leader, was shot dead by miscreants at Noagaon MA Majid Mia High School ground on May 7, 2004. Later, a court sentenced 22 people to death and six others to imprisonment in a case filed in connection with the killing. Of the convicts, 17 are now in custody while 11 others remain at large.
