One Farm One House
Project to be implemented in 200 unions
The government will implement Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar (one house one farm) programme in 200 unions through Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) to accelerate rural development, the state minister for LGRD and cooperatives yesterday said.
Speaking as the chief guest at a seminar in the city, Jahangir Kabir Nanak said the government has decided to adopt the concept of Link Model, especially union coordination committee, in the Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar programme, which mainly focuses on the asset transfer to rural poor households for their benefits and development.
Participatory Rural Development Project, Phase-2 of BRDB, and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) jointly organised the seminar on 'Realising union level coordination all over the nation through networking' at the Biam auditorium.
Presided over by Rural Development and Cooperatives Division Secretary Rokeya Sultana, the seminar was addressed by Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Tamotsu Shinotsuka, Chief Representative of JICA Takao Toda, BRDB Director General Humayun Khalid, PRDP Director Aminur Rahman Khan, and Prof Salahuddin M Aminuzzaman of Dhaka University.
