Outlets of Kafé Mukti resume operation

Kafé Mukti, an initiative for economic reintegration of trafficking survivors, re-opened its outlets yesterday after a management review of one year and renovation. At the kiosks situated at the Bangladesh Secretariat, North South University, the Department of Social Services and the Department of Women Affairs, the survivors offer food, beverages and stationery items to the customers. State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury opened the Kafé Mukti outlet at the secretariat. In addition to the previous outlets, a new outlet was opened at the Bangladesh-Korea Technical Training Centre in the city. International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with the government started the initiative in 2008 with support from Norway and Denmark. Other partners of the initiative included Nestlé, Transcom and NGOs. IOM Regional Representative Rabab Fatima, Zakia Hasan, team leader of the project, representatives from different ministries, NGOs and donor organisations were also present at the ceremony.
