Call centre village to be set up

The government will establish a call centre village to create more employment opportunities in the country. "BTRC has already prepared a project in this regard," an official of the Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) said at a meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on post and telecommunications ministry. The 13th meeting of the committee was held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Sunday, with committee chairman Hasanul Huq Inu in the chair, said an official handout. The meeting was told that the BTRC has issued 426 licences for establishing call centres. Of them, 70 call centres are in operation and have some 6,000 employees. The government also launched mobile money order service in 104 more post offices on Sunday, aiming to bring rural people under banking network. This service will also be launched in 600 more post offices by June. Under such arrangement, the recipients will receive the money sent to them within two minutes. Committee members ASM Firoz, Mohammad Abdul Kuddus, Solaiman Haque Zoardar, Mohammad Nazrul Islam Babu, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Moazzem Hossain Ratan and Golam Mostafa were present at the meeting. Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission Chairman Maj Gen (retd.) Zia Ahmed presented a paper in the meeting.
