Case against Quader dropped

The government yesterday withdrew a tax evasion case filed against Awami League presidium member Obaidul Quader in August 2007. Judge Jesmin Anwar of the Special Judge's Court-4, Dhaka, passed the order upon a petition submitted by a public prosecutor on April 11. The court also acquitted Quader of the case filed for evading Tk 6.36 lakh income tax on his income of Tk 1.07 crore for the years from 1997-1998 to 2006-2007. The AL leader was present during yesterday's hearing of the case.
