Road crashes kill five
Five people were killed and 10 others injured in separate road accidents in Comilla and Netrakona yesterday and Thursday night.
UNB from Comilla reports: Three people, including a child, were killed and 10 others injured in a road accident at Raipur Dighirpar in Daudkandi upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Matin, 40, driver of a bus. Identity of two other deceased could not be known immediately.
Highway police said the accident occurred at 2:00pm as a capital-bound bus from Feni hit a roadside tree as its driver tried to overtake a truck, leaving bus driver Matin dead on the spot.
Twelve people injured in the accident were rushed to local Gouripur Hospital where a five-year-old girl and another person succumbed to their injuries.
Our correspondent from Netrakona adds: Two motorbike riders were killed in a road accident on Netrakona-Madan road at Abhoipasha under Atpara upazila in Netrakona on Thursday night.
The dead were identified as Ashadul Islam, 25, of Pangsha upazila in Rajbari and Gabrial allies Sagor, 26, of Thakurgaon Sadar upazila in Thakurgaon. They were the field workers of Lioness Eye Hospital Private Limited in Netrakona town.
Police and local people said the accident occurred at Abhoipasha when Ashadul and Gabrial were going to Netrakona town from Madan upazila headquarters in a motorbike. The motorbike hit a tree, leaving them dead on the spot.
